A small thing but a big thing...

Why We Should Share Our Good News (not just our struggles)!

New research from The Greater Good shared a study in which 300 participants were interviewed and were asked about their general health, how often they tended to share good news and how people generally responded to their good news.

The study found that people who shared positive events with others felt more grateful in the moment and closer to the person with whom they shared the news. In addition, people with a tendency to share good news and receive enthusiastic responses were the most grateful in the study, overall. Sharing good news also strengthened social bonds (no matter how close you were before).

The take away? Share your good news and respond enthusiastically when others share theirs It makes life better!

My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending our Hearts and Bodies

by Reemaa Menakem

In this groundbreaking book, therapist Resmaa Menakem examines the damage caused by racism in America from the perspective of trauma and body-centered psychology.

The body is where our instincts reside and where we fight, flee, or freeze, and it endures the trauma inflicted by the ills that plague society. Menakem argues this destruction will continue until Americans learn to heal the generational anguish of white supremacy, which is deeply embedded in all our bodies. Our collective agony doesn't just affect African Americans. White Americans suffer their own secondary trauma as well. So do blue Americans—our police.
